Crystal Dawn Virginia Durruty

Crystal Dawn Virginia (Henning) Durruty, 38, of Hampton, VA., formerly of Thurmont, MD., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

She was a 2003 graduate of Catoctin High School, in Thurmont.

Crystal was a proud Navy veteran serving in Kabul, Afghanistan.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Heather E. (Fraser) Souders and husband James, and her stepmother, Lisa Pappas Mosebrook. She was the loving daughter of the late Wayne E. “Fuzzy” Henning, who died in 2020.

Crystal is also survived by her son, LJ Durruty; her daughter, Layla Durruty; her stepdaughter, Alanna Durruty; two brothers, Joshua Wayne Henning and George William Henning; two stepsisters, Amanda Bartlett and Samantha Souders; three step brothers, James Malcolm, Andrew Malcolm, and David Malcolm; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fraser; several uncles; aunts; cousins; and many friends from all over the world, that miss her very much.

Crystal had a love for life, family, and friends; especially her children and brothers. She always made sure those around her were having a good time and most importantly, laughing. Crystal had an infectious smile and contagious laugh. She had a spitfire personality you couldn't help but be drawn to. If you were fortunate enough to be her family or friend, you knew you had someone in your corner for life. Crystal was a daddy's girl and the loss of her father devastated her. We can take comfort in knowing they are now reunited. We Love you Crystal; YOU SAID IT FIRST!!

A celebration of Crystal's life will be held from 4-8PM on Thursday, June 1st, 2023 at the Lewistown Social Club, 10540 Putman Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
