Gary Alexander Carr, 72, of East Berlin PA, passed away at home on August 21, 2024, after a long battle with heart disease.
Born July 25, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, and growing up with his mother’s Italian family, Gary was the loving son of the late Wadsworth and Mary (Tempera) Carr and was an only child. He loved being in the kitchen with his mom and never missed a meal.
He graduated from the University of Towson with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Gary’s family meant everything to him. He had a funny sense of humor, and always tried to make everyone laugh. He loved hunting, fishing, and going to the shooting range. He had several close friends over the years that he loved to talk to. Gary worked for most of his career as an assistant manager before eventually becoming a manager of his own grocery store.
Gary is survived by his ex-wife, Shelly Baker; their children, Tiffany (Carr) Hernandez and Jonathan Carr; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Olivia, and Nellie; and many friends. He was a kind and generous man and will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a crowd funding campaign has been set up on the funeral home website to help offset cremation expenses for the family.
Arrangements are with Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor, 3045 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg.
